User cannot access shared folder in SharePoint Online


A common issue occurs where users cannot access a shared folder in SharePoint Online. This only occurs when a specific folder has been shared with a user, not the entire site. Users see an Access Denied message when browsing to a shared folder or a file within a shared folder.

Instructions

Provide step-by-step instructions:

  1. Go to your site and select the gear icon (top right corner) > Site information > View all site settings > Site collection features.
  2. If Limited-access user permission lockdown mode is Active, Deactivate this feature.
